Interim VP of Finance / Controller
Position Overview Kitson Human Capital Solutions has been exclusively engaged to lead the search for an Interim VP of Finance / Controller on behalf of a premier heritage brand in the apparel industry. Known for its global presence and long-standing commitment to quality, the organization operates in a dynamic consumer market and is currently undertaking important financial initiatives. This full-time interim role will support the company’s finance and accounting operations during a critical transitional phase, working closely with the CFO to ensure stability, compliance, and visibility across all financial functions. The ideal candidate is a hands-on finance leader with deep experience in consumer products or apparel, who is comfortable working in a mid-market environment with revenues between $50M–$100M. Role Details Position Title: Interim VP of Finance / Controller Location: Totowa, NJ (Primarily On-Site with Limited Flexibility) Engagement Type: Interim, Full-Time Reports To: Chief Financial Officer Industry: Apparel / Consumer Products Search Conducted By: Kitson Human Capital Solutions Key Responsibilities • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of all financial statements and internal reports • Coordinate external audit preparation and liaise with auditors • Manage accounting team and day-to-day finance operations • Prepare regular financial packages and covenant compliance reports for lenders • Serve as a key point of contact for lender communications and financial deliverables • Support financial forecasting, liquidity management, and cash flow projections • Leverage ERP and reporting tools to streamline financial processes • Ensure accurate integration and reporting from BlueCherry ERP (required) • Utilize MS Dynamics and Jet Analytics to support data-driven financial insights • Maintain and improve internal controls over financial reporting • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax obligations, and applicable regulatory requirements • Implement and document finance SOPs where gaps exist • Partner with the CFO to support budgeting, forecasting, and operational analysis • Provide financial guidance on inventory, COGS, and product margin analysis • Assist with cost containment strategies and working capital optimization Qualifications & Requirements • Minimum of 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience • Previous experience in the apparel or consumer products industry strongly preferred • Proven success managing finance functions for businesses with $50–$100 million in revenue • Hands-on experience with BlueCherry ERP is required • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics and Jet Analytics is preferred • Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial compliance • Ability to manage lender communications and reporting requirements • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills • CPA or equivalent financial certification is a plus • Located within commuting distance of Totowa, NJ Compensation & Logistics Engagement Type: Interim, Full-Time Location: Primarily on-site in Totowa, NJ, with limited flexibility for remote work Compensation: Competitive, commensurate with experience
