North Carolina Attorney for Residential Construction Contract Dispute (Lien/Change Order Issue)
I am seeking a licensed North Carolina attorney with experience in residential construction law, real estate contracts, and lien disputes. I hired a contractor to build a home in Glenville, NC (Jackson County) under a fixed-price construction agreement. Near the end of the project, the contractor submitted an unapproved $30,000+ change order and is now threatening escalation unless I pay a disputed amount. Although the written contract clearly requires signed change orders (Section 57), the contractor is attempting to enforce an alleged verbal agreement and has rejected a fair written settlement I offered. He has not yet filed a lien but may attempt to do so. I need help with: Reviewing the contract and change order Advising on the enforceability of the contractor’s claims Communicating through counsel Preventing or defending against any improper lien filing Finalizing a clean legal resolution so I can sell the home You must be licensed in North Carolina and experienced in residential construction or real estate law.
