Experienced Non-Profit Founder/Consultant Needed to Establish a 501(c)(3) Organization
I'm seeking an experienced professional to guide us through the process of legally establishing a non-profit organization (501(c)(3) in the U.S. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in non-profit formation, legal compliance, and IRS filing procedures. This is a remote, project-based role with potential for ongoing consulting. Responsibilities: Research and advise on the best structure for our non-profit (e.g., charitable, educational, religious). Draft and file necessary legal documents (Articles of Incorporation, Bylaws, EIN application). Guide us through IRS Form 1023/1023-EZ (501(c)(3) tax-exempt application. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Provide guidance on board formation, governance, and best practices. Assist with initial fundraising and donor compliance Offer post-formation support Requirements: Proven experience successfully forming 501(c)(3) non-profits (portfolio and references required). Deep knowledge of IRS and state non-profit regulations. Familiarity with legal drafting (bylaws, mission statements, etc.). Strong research and organizational skills. Excellent communication to explain complex legal steps clearly. Preferred Skills: Legal background (paralegal, attorney, or non-profit consultant). Experience with grant writing or fundraising compliance. Knowledge of donor management and non-profit accounting.
