Multi-State HR & Payroll Compliance Specialist (Rippling, Tax Filings, Registrations)
We are a U.S.-based company hiring across multiple states, and we need a compliance-focused HR/payroll specialist to help us with a short-term project. -Audit our current state registrations (DOR, UI, WC, PFML, etc.) for ~14 states. -Identify and help file any missing payroll/tax reports and payments as needed -Ensure we are properly set up to hire in each state we have employees -Close out of a few states that we no longer have employees -Audit and update our Registered Rep services where needed This project will start as a short-term engagement to bring our records up to date, with potential for ongoing monthly support as we continue expanding. Long-term engagement potential: -Assist with filing setup for new states as we expand / closing registrations as needed -Update our administration calendar table with key information and dates (compliance log to track registration and filing status by state) -Collaborate with Rippling (our HR/payroll platform) to ensure new states are registered properly What We're Looking For: -Proven experience in U.S. multi-state payroll tax compliance -Comfortable filing with DORs, DOLs, and other state agencies -Experience using Rippling -Familiar with registered agent coordination and state business registrations -Detail-oriented, communicative, and self-sufficient How We Work: -We’re a remote team spread across the U.S. and abroad -You’ll work directly with our Operation team. -We prefer async communication via Slack, with occasional Zoom check-ins -You'll have access to our state registration data and Rippling dashboard Project Details: -Start: Immediately -Engagement: Hourly (initial audit + ongoing support as needed) -Location: U.S. only (due to local tax agency access and regulatory expertise) To Apply, Please include: -A brief summary of your multi-state compliance experience -Which platforms you’ve worked with -A sample of similar work or a brief outline of how you'd approach this project -Your hourly rate and availability
