MS Power Query to MS Project Integration with VBA for Real-Time Data Syncing
Description: I am looking for an experienced freelancer to help automate the process of syncing data from MS Power Query (linked to our ERP software) to MS Project, focusing on real-time updates of key project details such as task durations, start times, and finish times. Project Requirements: Integration Details: Power Query & MS Project Syncing: Data from Power Query should be synced to MS Project (Desktop version) in real-time. Key data fields to be updated include: Labor Item Labor Item Step Work Order Name Work Order Step Labor Planned Duration Labor Step Entered Date Date Completed Data Source: The data is exported from Power Query to a table in Excel, and then needs to be mapped and updated in MS Project. Real-time Sync: I prefer a real-time solution, ensuring that updates in Power Query are reflected immediately in MS Project. Technical Setup: I’m looking for a VBA macro that will automate the syncing of the latest MS Query data into MS Project. The dataset will contain approximately 150 rows with about 7 variables (fields), including the ones mentioned above. If any data fields are missing or do not have a value, I would like the script to return 0 or N/A text. Challenges: I’ve encountered errors during my attempts to implement the process. I’ve followed this YouTube tutorial [link], but I still need help with some syntax and coding issues. Experience & Skills: Strong foundation in VBA programming for Excel. Experience with MS Power Query and how it integrates with external systems or tools. Familiarity with MS Project Desktop (not required but preferred). Ability to walk me through any setup or troubleshooting steps. Timeline & Deliverables: I would like this work completed as soon as possible but understand that quality takes time. We can discuss the specific deadlines during the initial consultation. I would like to have dialogue throughout the project to ensure everything is on track. I’d like to record these sessions for reference to help troubleshoot future issues independently. After the initial work, I may need ongoing support for updates and troubleshooting on an as-needed basis. Communication: Preferably, I’d like to communicate via Zoom to walk through the process and resolve any issues in real time. I can provide access to my data, and I’m happy to guide you through how our ERP system is updating Power Query data. Ideal Freelancer: Experienced with VBA and Power Query. Ability to work independently but also communicate clearly when issues arise. Expert-level coding skills for troubleshooting and adapting existing solutions to fit my needs.
