Job Description As a Medical Reviewer at Parkland Hospital, you will play an essential role in evaluating clinical documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and quality in patient records. Your primary responsibility will be reviewing medical charts, reports, and documentation to ensure they meet the necessary regulatory standards and guidelines. You will work closely with physicians, nurses, and healthcare staff to ensure that all patient information is accurately recorded and properly aligned with treatment plans. Your role will be integral to maintaining the hospital's commitment to excellent patient care and operational excellence. The position also requires staying current with evolving regulations, guidelines, and best practices to ensure that the hospital is always in compliance with both internal standards and external regulatory bodies. Responsibilities In this role, you will be tasked with reviewing and verifying medical records to ensure that all entries are complete, accurate, and comply with relevant healthcare laws and guidelines. You will also be responsible for conducting audits and assessments of clinical documentation and making recommendations for improvements where necessary. Working closely with various departments, you will collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to address any documentation discrepancies and ensure that patient records are complete and compliant. Additionally, you will assist in training healthcare professionals on proper documentation procedures, helping them understand the importance of accurate record-keeping for patient safety and regulatory compliance. Your role will require you to stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and best practices in the healthcare field to ensure the hospital’s documentation processes remain current and in full compliance with all relevant policies. Qualifications and Skills The ideal candidate for the Medical Reviewer position will have a strong background in clinical documentation, medical terminology, and regulatory compliance. A degree in healthcare administration, nursing, or a related field is preferred. Experience working in medical chart review, clinical auditing, or similar roles is highly desired. A certification in medical coding (such as CPC or CCS) or healthcare compliance (such as CHC or CHC-IT) is a plus, though not required. You should possess a keen eye for detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently while adhering to strict guidelines. The ability to communicate complex medical concepts clearly to healthcare staff is essential, as is a strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality. Additionally, a collaborative mindset and the ability to interact effectively with medical professionals from a variety of disciplines will be key to your success in this role.
