Project Request: Children's Book Design Title: The Garbage Truck is Blue Client: Jacqueline (Jackie) Bittner Deliverable Type: Final proof - children’s book design Note: No AI generated materials, local Chicago artists only. This is a work for hire job, I will retain all intellectual property rights. Summary You will be creating the final proof of a 18 page children’s book that I will then send to a local print shop and print up a limited run of 25 copies for my son and his kindergarten class. The Garbage Truck is Blue is inspired by my son, who requested a garbage truck story at bedtime. This project involves full-page illustration and layout design for a square format picture book. Note: I have drawn and scanned most of the illustrations myself. You will be responsible for preparing a high resolution, CMYK-ready, print-compatible file (pdf) following the guidelines below. Technical Requirements Output format: PDF Resolution: minimum of 300 dpi per page Color format: convert from RGB to CMYK for print Experience required: graphic design composition from provided assets, conversion of digital media to physical print, and understanding of full-bleed and layout composition, Book Details Typeface: Poppins (clean, modern, playful) Format/Trim size: 7x7, no white space or boarders Spread layout: 14x7, story unfolds in 2-page spreads Total of Pages: 18 (includes the following) Front Cover Back Cover Inside Front Cover and Title/dedication page (as one spread) 14 illustrated story pages (7 spreads, last spread includes the inside back cover page) Design Elements Images: Front and back cover, and all assets and preferred color palettes are included (via a shared google drive). Design direction: Please take creative freedom to compose each spread using the elements and words provided on this storyboard. The sample images provide a general layout and outline to follow. Project Process Initial Design Draft Designer to deliver the first full draft of the 18-page book, inclusive of front and back covers, title/dedication page, and all story spreads Draft should include layout, illustrations, and text placement for review Delivery Format: PDF for review Client Review & Feedback Client (Jackie) will provide consolidated feedback within 5 business days of receiving the draft Feedback will include requested edits on layout, image adjustments, text placement and adjustments, and any other element adjustments I expect there will be one round of revisions, so long as the technical requirements and book details are met. Final Delivery Graphic designer to implement requested edits and deliver the final print-ready PDF based on the Technical Requirements and Book Details provided in this project request.
