Mechanical Engineer - Prototyping
Engineering Position – Child Car Seat Prototype Development (Brooklyn, NY) We are developing a patented child car seat and have an existing prototype and design specifications. We are seeking a mechanical engineer to refine the design by reducing weight, optimizing components (including spring-dampener systems), and improving articulation and compliance mechanisms. The seat features a fixed harness and requires specialized mechanical insight. Responsibilities: Modify and improve the current design. Oversee prototyping of the updated version. Deliver a complete, manufacturer-ready prototype package. Requirements: Proficiency in CAD and 3D design software. Strong understanding of spring-dampener systems and mechanical articulation. Ability to work in-person in Brooklyn, NY. A portfolio of previous mechanical/product design work (even if not manufactured) — especially projects related to similar products. This role is a paid trial for a potential full-time lead engineering position. We have multiple accessories and related products in the pipeline following the successful launch of this flagship product. We’re looking for someone with genuine passion for mechanical/product engineering, demonstrated through a thoughtful, detailed portfolio.
