Marketing Lead for DTC Custom-Fit Shoe Startup

IAMBIC is building the future of AI-personalized footwear – blending precision fit, cultural storytelling, and design excellence. Backed by the National Science Foundation and named a TIME Best Invention, we’re scaling fast – and we’re looking for a Marketing Lead to shape how the world sees, feels, and hears our brand. You’ll work side-by-side directly with the CEO and Co-Founder and drive marketing across the full funnel: from content creation to campaign execution, data insights to strategic storytelling. You’ll be responsible for driving traffic to iambic.co, growing our email/VIP list, and deepening how we tell the story of our products, collaborators, and purpose. This is a role for someone who thrives in fast-moving, high-pressure environments where flexibility, initiative, and wearing multiple hats is the norm. Prior experience with or exposure to startups is important – you’ll be embedded in key parts of the business, helping build it from the inside out. Key Responsibilities - Lead overall marketing strategy – translate business goals into clear campaigns and channel plans, thinking about IAMBIC’s overall GTM strategy - Own content planning and storytelling – guide brand voice, develop and execute content pillars for social, email, and site - Oversee organic and paid media performance – manage or collaborate on Meta, Search, and YouTube campaigns, implement platforms like many chat to improve community engagement & oversee content calendar and scheduling - Manage email & retention strategy – build smart automations and campaigns in Klaviyo - Coordinate contractors/tools – leverage AI, automation (e.g., ManyChat, ChatGPT, CapCut), and affordable help to scale engagement, community management, and editing - Support key brand moments – assist with launches, partnerships, and in-person events in NYC - Report on performance – track key KPIs and advise on what’s working, what’s not, and what to test next You’re a Good Fit If You: - Think like a strategist, act like an operator - Know how to focus — and delegate, automate, or eliminate the rest - Can lead without needing a big team (yet) - Are resourceful, self-directed, and growth-minded - Have a strong grasp of paid + organic marketing (especially in DTC/ecomm) - Are experienced with Klaviyo, Meta Ads, Shopify, and short-form video content - Bonus if you have startup or custom-fit product experience Qualifications - 2–4 years experience in marketing (startup or agency background preferred) - Mastery of Klaviyo, Meta Business Suite, and YouTube/Google Ads - Strong writing skills with the ability to use AI tools and preserve a human voice - Detail-obsessed – nothing slips past you - Familiarity with Shopify and blog publishing/SEO best practices - Analytical thinker with creative instincts - Organized, proactive, and excited to be in the trenches day-to-day - NYC-based or willing to be regularly in person - Bonus: Graphic design skills, Adobe Illustrator proficiency - Bonus: Experience with early-stage brands, footwear, fashion, or performance marketing Engagement Details - $4,500/month contractor retainer to start - Equity package - High-upside path to W2 higher-salaried position as we hit key sales milestones - Compensation will grow in step with performance – this is a launchpad - High-impact role with CMO-track potential for the right candidate - NYC hybrid – regular in-person presence required for content capture and events
