Senior Full-Stack Laravel Developer for Hosting Control Panel API + Recurly Shopping Cart
**Description:** We're looking for a senior full-stack Laravel developer to help complete a custom-built web hosting control panel API and implement a backend shopping cart system using Recurly. The frontend development of the shopping cart will be handled by our designers. This is not a CMS plugin or cPanel clone. It’s an API-first platform designed to handle domain registrations, website provisioning, DNS management, billing, and user account management. **About the Project:** The API powers: * Domain registration via external registrars * Website provisioning (e.g. shared hosting, WordPress installs) * Subscription billing and one-time purchases * User authentication and permissions * DNS and infrastructure integrations * Everything else the control panel offers We're also building a **shopping cart experience using Recurly** that can: * Support **multiple subscriptions and one-time purchases** in a single checkout * Tokenize billing info and submit it securely through Recurly.js * Interface with our backend API for user/account creation and provisioning * Work seamlessly with the control panel’s billing and provisioning logic You’ll work directly with a technical founder to complete both the core API and the cart integration. **What You’ll Work On:** * Finalizing authentication routes using Laravel Fortify * Configuring Sanctum for token-based API authentication * Implementing login rate limiting with Laravel’s built-in tools * Setting up Markdown-based email notifications with custom branding * Sending all emails via SMTP through queued background jobs * Documenting the API using Scribe (or another tool if you propose a better option) * Building and integrating a Laravel-friendly cart workflow using the Recurly API/JS * Optionally writing smoke tests to validate route/controller mapping **Requirements:** * Up to 40+ hours per week over the next month, minimum of 20 * Strong Laravel experience (Laravel 10+ preferred) * Experience with Laravel Sanctum and Fortify * Comfortable with Laravel Queues and SMTP email setup * Familiarity with API payment/billing systems like Recurly, Recurly.js, Braintree, or Stripe * Experience documenting APIs with Scribe or similar tools * Practical mindset – clean, tested code but not over-engineered * Excellent written communication; async-friendly **Bonus Points For:** * Prior experience with hosting platforms or domain/DNS APIs * Familiarity with PHP Pest (we avoid Mockery whenever possible) * Comfort working with minimal supervision and iterating quickly **What We Provide:** * Seed data for users and auth tokens * A full test suite with good coverage * SMTP credentials * Recurly credentials and plans * Clear route map and expectations * Fast code reviews and direct communication with a technical founder * User stories with acceptance criteria to make the end goal clear **To Apply:** Please share: * A Laravel API you’ve worked on recently * Any experience with Recurly or subscription commerce * How you’ve implemented authentication, queues, or documentation in Laravel * Your availability and typical working hours We're looking for someone who can start immediately and contribute meaningfully to both the control panel and the shopping cart.
