Update and Edit/Proofread a Classic Christian Book - The Inner Circle, by Edgar DeWitt Jones
We update classic Christian books from the Puritan era, and as may be expected, there can be quite a bit of archaic updating needed.. The title of this book is The Inner Circle, by Edgar DeWitt Jones, originally published in the year 1914. This project will involve: 1. Updating archaic words and phrases while still being careful to maintain the author's original intention and tone (inasmuch as that is possible). 2. Splitting extra-long sentences and paragraphs. 3. Comparing to the original text as needed. Please note that we're not looking for a complete rewrite - we do want the sentences to still be recognizably Jones' writing. Only truly archaic words and phrases should be updated, and the rest remain as-is. But still, I'd expect that most sentences do need to be touched in one way or the other. The manuscript is currently 46,034 words long, and I've attached the document for your review prior to submitting a proposal. Please plan on using the Microsoft Word Track Changes feature, and "hide" the changes so that while editing and proofreading you are seeing the final version even while Word is tracking changes in the background. We use the Chicago Manual of Style and the Christian Writer's Manual of Style, as well as our own in-house rules. However, after you are finished, we will have a proofreader also work on the project, and he or she will be able to take care of any stylistic changes that are still needed after you are done. At this time, we do not accept AI editing or updating. Our experience is that AI is still not as good as a human being who understands the Scriptures and also the heart and intention of the original writers.
