Help me build my home on wheels built out for full-time travel with my dog, Rue. I’m aiming for a setup that’s smart, comfortable, and self-contained, where every inch of space has a purpose. I’m 6’2” barefoot, so headroom matters a lot. The vibe I’m going for is 60s/70s looks with earthy, warm, and laid-back tones. Think birch wood, orange leather (I have the leather), muted greens, walnut tones. I want it to feel cozy, grounded, and a little nostalgic. The lighting will be soft and warm diffused LEDs that give everything a nice glow. There’ll be a queen bed with storage underneath (the “garage”), a simple kitchen with an induction stove and a water system, a bench seat that repurposes an old orange leather couch cushion I love, and a flexible workspace where I can swivel the driver’s seat and work on my laptop. I’ll also have a dry flush toilet tucked away, and everything will run off solar and the van’s alternator, and shore power. One of my biggest design goals is to avoid using self-tapping screws into the van’s metal. I’d like to build everything off furring strips and existing ribs wherever possible. Clean build, solid structure, no unnecessary holes. All my measurements below are estimates and could be far off, this is why I am looking for your help.
