River Valley Law, PA is a Waite Park, MN based law firm focused on employment, business and real estate matters in state, appellate and federal courts. We seek an experienced, self-motivated paralegal to assist with our growing firm. You will provide a broad spectrum of legal services under the supervision of experienced attorneys, along with a team of experienced colleagues. While you will be working as a paralegal on some legal matters in various areas of law to support our three (3) full-time attorneys. Responsibilities Paralegal • Coordinate with office legal support staff to enhance office effectiveness. • Participate in company training and professional development from time to time. • Maintain and enhance client relationships on behalf of the firm. • Effectively utilize technology, tools and software in the firm to streamline legal processes and improve overall efficiency; and • Coordinate case load with in-house attorneys and remote employees and vendors. • Professionally communicate with clients, court staff, opposing counsel’s staff, witnesses, etc. • Administratively support attorneys with trials. • Prepare pleadings, discovery documents and coordinate depositions. • Perform statistical and/or documentary research. • Locate and develop case information. • Draft and e-file and serve pleadings in state and federal courts. • Maintain contact lists for clients, witnesses and vendors. • Monitor case deadlines and update attorney calendars. • Enter all billable hours into Clio Manage software for client matters. • Coordinate various litigation related services, such as court reporters, mediators and expert witnesses as needed. • Work a minimum of 32-40 hours per week; and • Perform other case related tasks as assigned. Skills • Proven working experience as senior legal assistant or senior paralegal in civil practice. • Familiarity with legal procedures and protocols, in state and federal court. • Strong knowledge of day-to-day operations of a legal office. • Computer literacy in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and Zoom. • Proficient with e-filing and service with Minnesota state and appellate courts and in US District Court required; additional knowledge of e-filing in North Dakota state court system is preferred, but not required. • Proficiency in English. • Working knowledge of Clio time and billing software is preferred, but not required. • Excellent organizational skills and attention to details, deadlines and meetings. • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines and prioritize them. • Ability to work with other employees and coordinate with them in a professional manner. • Paralegal Certification or diploma preferred, or sufficient extensive, proven equivalent of on-the-job training and experience. Job Type: Full-time at 32 to 40 hours per week. Pay: TBD, DOE Schedule: • Monday to Friday 8am-5pm; (Mon.-Thurs.) (Fri. 8am-4:30pm) Education: • Paralegal Certificate or Associates Degree in Legal Studies (Required) Experience: • Minnesota State Court e-filing: 3 years (Required) • Paralegal: 3 years (Required) • Microsoft Word: 3 years (Required) • Law office: 3 years (Required) • North Dakota Court e-filing: 1-2 years, preferred but not required. • US District Court e-filing, 1-2 years, required.
