Microsoft 365 / Intune / AVD Security Consultant – Cyber Essentials & ISO 27001 Implementation
We are an AI startup preparing for Cyber Essentials (UK) and ISO 27001 certification. We are looking for a hands-on consultant to implement Microsoft 365, Intune, Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM), and Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) as part of our secure-by-design cloud infrastructure. This includes configuring all core security controls for company-issued devices, with optional BYOD support, across a globally distributed team. The goal is to establish a robust, auditable, and scalable Microsoft cloud security stack that supports future ISO certification and client data compliance standards (including GDPR). ⸻ Scope of Work: Microsoft 365 & Entra ID (Azure AD) Implementation • Set up a new Microsoft 365 tenant • Configure Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) with: • Role-based access control • Conditional Access policies • MFA enforcement across user groups • Secure configuration of Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams Microsoft Intune (MDM) Rollout • Deploy Intune MDM for company-issued laptops as the default model • Define device compliance policies: • Encryption • Malware protection (Microsoft Defender) • Patch/update enforcement • Remote wipe and device control • Design optional BYOD enrollment workflow, including work profiles and containerization Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Setup • Provision AVD environments for remote developers (India-based) • Harden session hosts, configure FSLogix profiles, and enforce usage policies • Integrate AVD with Defender for Endpoint for real-time threat detection Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM) Configuration • Set up Microsoft Sentinel for log aggregation and SIEM monitoring • Configure data connectors, alerting rules, and automated incident response playbooks • Optional integration with Sentry or other issue tracking systems Cyber Essentials & ISO 27001 Readiness • Implement and validate controls per Cyber Essentials v3.2: • Firewall and secure configuration • Access control and MFA • Patch management • Malware protection • Support creation of technical documentation for: • CE self-assessment evidence • ISO 27001 Annex A control alignment • Ensure GDPR-compliant architecture and data residency in the UK or EEA ⸻ Environment Overview: • 8 team members across the UK, France, UAE, and India • Primarily company-issued laptops, with optional BYOD support • Considering UK/EEA-based Azure tenancy for compliance • First-time rollout of M365, Intune, Sentinel, and AVD • Internal compliance lead driving ISO 27001 roadmap ⸻ Candidate Requirements: • Hands-on experience with: • Microsoft 365, Intune (MDM), AVD setup • Microsoft Sentinel configuration and tuning • Cyber Essentials and/or ISO 27001 implementations • Familiar with securing hybrid teams and remote work environments • Able to deliver documentation for compliance and technical handover ⸻ Project Timeline: Estimated 2–4 weeks for full implementation, plus optional support engagement ⸻ To Apply: Please provide: • Case studies or references for past M365 + AVD deployments • Experience with CE/ISO certification support • Your approach to balancing compliance and productivity for globally distributed teams
