Tracking & Attribution Expert Needed to Diagnose GA4/Performance Drop on Client Website

Job Description: We're a UK-based digital agency looking for a freelancer with advanced tracking, attribution, and GA4 troubleshooting experience to urgently assist with a performance issue on a client’s account. Since mid-April 2025, we've seen a significant drop in reported conversions across Google Ads and GA4 for one of our key campaigns. However: - Search Console still shows strong click-through rates - The client’s internal lead data doesn't reflect a drop in actual enquiries - No major site changes have been reported, though some plugins may have been altered - Our SEO and Paid Media teams have reviewed the setup, and no red flags have emerged This leads us to believe the issue lies in tracking or attribution, but we need an expert to identify exactly what’s gone wrong and advise on how to fix it fast. What We Need Help With: - A comprehensive audit of the tracking setup across GA4, Google Ads, and (if relevant) GTM - Comparing click and conversion data across Search Console, GA4, Google Ads, and CMS - Identifying attribution discrepancies or lost tracking connections - Reviewing plugin changes or tag-firing issues that could impact conversion tracking - Advising on and implementing fixes to restore accurate performance visibility Tools & Platforms in Use: - GA4 - Google Tag Manager (if needed — we can provide access) - Google Ads - Search Console - Website CMS: WordPress, Deliverables: - Written summary of findings, issues, and proposed solutions - Reinstatement or correction of broken tracking (if possible within scope) - Recommendations to prevent future tracking issues Ideal Candidate: - Proven experience solving complex attribution or tracking issues - Strong knowledge of GA4, Google Ads conversion tracking, GTM - Comfortable auditing and interpreting discrepancies across data platforms - Excellent communication skills – able to explain findings clearly to a non-technical audience - Reliable and responsive – we’re on a tight timeline for this client Timeline: - Start: ASAP (this is an urgent issue) - Estimated hours: 5–10 hours initially (with potential for follow-on work)
