Structural Engineer with Shade Sail and Steel Shelter Experience (CA, AZ Stamp Preferred)

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer licensed in California (CA) and Arizona (AZ) to support ongoing and upcoming projects involving Shade Sails (Tensile Fabric Structures), and Metal Shelters (Gable, Pyramid, Monoslope, Hip Canopy..ect.) The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA), providing structural calculations, and stamping drawings for permit submission. Key Responsibilities: Perform and provide structural analysis and calculations (hand and software-based) Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Review and stamp drawings for CA and AZ projects Ensure designs comply with applicable IBC codes, local amendments, and permit requirements Collaborate with our design team to iterate on safe and cost-effective solutions Occasionally assist with responses to AHJ plan check comments Requirements: PE license with active registration in California and Arizona (dual licensure strongly preferred) Proven experience with Shade Sails (tensile fabric structures), and Metal Shelters (Gable, Pyramid, Monoslope, Hip Canopy..etc..) Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, STAAD, SAP2000, or similar) *Dlubal Preferred* Ability to provide timely, high-quality stamped documents Strong communication skills and attention to detail Familiarity with wind load analysis and seismic considerations in CA and AZ This is a freelance / as-needed opportunity with potential for ongoing work.
