Senior DevOps Consultant / Technical Architect (E-Commerce Infra Audit & Guidance)
I'm looking for an experienced Senior DevOps Engineer or Technical Architect to audit our e-commerce infrastructure, identify system fragilities, and potentially guide our lead developer to improve reliability, deployment processes, and backend architecture. Our site has experienced multiple outages over the past two months, and we want an outside expert to: - Review the server setup, deployment process, and monitoring - Analyze recent outages and postmortem reports - Evaluate our lead developer’s code and decision-making - Suggest technical improvements and architectural best practices - Optionally coach or guide our current lead dev We use PHP on the backend and have a frontend developer working in a modern JS framework. You should be fluent in backend architecture, API resilience, QA best practices, and DevOps culture. Deliverables: - A written audit/report with prioritized recommendations - 1–2 follow-up calls to discuss improvements and potential collaboration - Optional: code reviews, mentoring, or oversight of improvements Requirements: - 8+ years of experience as a backend engineer, DevOps lead, or architect - Experience with PHP environments and API reliability best practices - Proven success diagnosing infrastructure or application downtime - Strong communication skills—able to explain findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders - Experience in e-commerce or high-availability systems preferred This is a short-term audit and consultation project with the potential for ongoing advisory work.
