We’re seeking an intermediate technical writer to support our global, distributed technical writing team on a one-year contract basis. Our 100% remote team owns the documentation for a DevSecOps platform and works collaboratively in a docs-as-code environment. This writer will help us deliver a number of small and medium-sized improvement projects that will help our customers realize value from the docs more effectively. We have a list of projects to complete that include: - Updating docs content to clarify the audience — such as indicating when a document applies to a specific product or pricing tier, and determining an approach to differentiate between user and admin-facing content. - Improving docs organization and information architecture — such as refactoring our fulfillment content and our admin-facing content, reviewing and improving the linking strategy within the docs, and separating troubleshooting content. - Updating docs pages to adhere to the style guide - Fixing examples within the docs, specifically with a focus on the REST API docs While you will be responsible for delivering these projects as an individual writer, you will have support from a Technical Writing Manager and opportunities to collaborate with other team members as you discuss ideas and work through the docs review process. Required experience: - Demonstrated experience writing and editing software documentation in a docs-as-code environment. - Hands-on experience with Git, including on the command line, and collaborating in GitLab or GitHub. - Excellent grammar skills. - Good attention to detail and organization skills. - Experience adhering to and applying style guide rules. - Ability to work independently - Experience working remotely and collaborating across countries and time zones. Nice to have: - Using AI tools in technical writing workflows. - Knowledge of AI coding assistants. - Experience planning and implementing information architecture improvements for technical documentation - General familiarity with one or more coding languages. - Experience testing and documenting REST APIs
