Senior Technical Writer
Job Title: Senior Technical Writer – Virtualization Software (3-Month Contract) Location: Remote Duration: 3 Months Start Date: ASAP About the Project We're looking for an experienced Technical Writer to join a high-impact, short-term project for a client specializing in complex virtualization software. This is a fast-paced contract role focused on producing high-quality technical manuals and product documentation, similar in nature to a detailed printer manual—but for enterprise-grade virtualization tools. The client is currently facing challenges with their existing documentation efforts, and you’ll play a key role in turning that around. Your mission: create clear, accurate, and professional documentation quickly and independently, helping streamline the user experience and reduce support dependency. Responsibilities Develop, write, and edit high-quality technical manuals and user documentation for virtualization software. Work closely with SMEs, engineers, and product managers to gather technical information and translate it into clear, user-friendly content. Audit, improve, and reorganize existing documentation as needed. Follow and refine documentation templates and style guides to maintain consistency and clarity. Manage your own documentation pipeline and deliverables with minimal supervision. Requirements Proven experience writing technical documentation for complex software products—preferably in virtualization, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise IT. Fluent English Ability to understand technical systems quickly and explain them to a non-expert audience. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines in a high-pressure environment. Experience working directly with developers and product teams in a fast-moving, agile setting. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with or writing about VMware products or having worked at VMware previously. Familiarity with virtualization platforms, hypervisors, or cloud orchestration tools. Experience using documentation tools like MadCap Flare, Oxygen XML, Confluence, Git, or similar. This is a contract role that demands initiative, precision, and speed.
