What is your current level of experience in freelance work?
I’m seeking a seasoned developmental editor to help bring clarity, emotional depth, and narrative cohesion to a self-help/memoir I’ve written for women navigating motherhood, identity, and personal transformation. This project is very close to my heart. Although my draft has been through the editing process, after a few thorough reviews and feedback, I recognize that I would greatly benefit from a fresh perspective—ideally from someone with significant expertise in this field. The manuscript combines personal storytelling with practical insights, intended to resonate with women from all backgrounds—especially those who have faced societal pressures, financial constraints, or the quiet erosion of their personal ambitions while raising children. My goal is for this book to feel grounded, inclusive, and emotionally resonant, while still offering actionable encouragement and hope. What I’m Looking For: • Proven experience editing in the self-help or memoir genre • A strong developmental eye for structure, flow, and emotional arc • Sensitivity to tone, relatability, and cultural inclusiveness • Ideally, publishing credits or client testimonials that reflect success in this genre • An ability to help refine a narrative voice that is warm, empowering, and wise without being preachy Please include samples or links to books you’ve edited (particularly in memoir or self-help).
