Freelance Storytelling Video Editor (YouTube + Social Cutdowns) Location: Remote | Freelance | Part-Time About the Role CAKES body is looking for a storytelling-focused video editor who can take longer-form content—vlogs, podcast clips, doc-style footage—and shape it into emotionally engaging, visually dynamic content. Think YouTube-first edits with snackable short-form cutdowns that extend the story across platforms. You’ll own the full edit of one longer-form video per week (3–10 minutes), plus 3 short-form cutdowns optimized for TikTok, Reels, and other social channels. We’re looking for someone who understands how to build narrative, find the emotional heartbeat of a moment, and edit with pacing and polish. Responsibilities - Edit one long-form video per week (YouTube vlog, BTS, podcast-style, or docu-series) - Create 3 short-form cutdowns from the same footage (30–60 sec) for social - Elevate raw footage into compelling, high-retention edits with intentional pacing, music, and captions - Collaborate with the founder and creative team to refine story arcs and tone - Infuse brand voice: confident, witty, emotional when it counts, always human What We’re Looking For - A gifted storyteller with experience in viral, social-first video - Fluent in YouTube and social-first video language (cutdowns, hooks, pacing, retention tactics) - Experience editing founder-led or personality-driven content is a major plus - Ability to find the story in raw, unscripted footage and craft it into something binge-worthy - Comfortable experimenting with AI tools (Descript, rough transcripts, ideation prompts) to enhance storytelling and streamline workflows - Comfortable experimenting with AI tools (Descript, rough transcripts, ideation prompts) to enhance storytelling and streamline workflows
