Developer Needed for 2D Point-and-Click Adventure Game (Playable Demo Phase)

We are seeking an experienced developer to help bring a 2D point-and-click adventure game to life. This project draws inspiration from classic 90s adventure games, Saturday-morning cartoons, anime aesthetics, and lighthearted sci-fi storytelling. The tone is comedic but structured, with a fully outlined story and puzzle framework already in place. Audio design, including music and voice-overs, have already been taken care-of by us. Project Overview: Our current goal is to develop a playable demo showcasing the core mechanics, puzzle systems, character interactions, and overall tone of the game. The estimated scope of the demo includes multiple playable scenes and at least 30–40 minutes of gameplay. We already have completed scripts, puzzle logic, character outlines, and room design documents to work from. What We’re Looking For: Solid experience developing 2D games using tools that would allow us to publish the game on multiple platforms, including Steam, Mobile, the Nintendo e-Shop, etc. Familiarity with point-and-click interfaces, puzzle scripting, dialogue systems, and inventory mechanics. Ability to implement existing designs and collaborate closely with a creative team. Experience integrating UI/UX elements and working with placeholder or final art assets. Sprite-based 2D art/animation creation and implementation, reminiscent of 80's/90's style retro adventure games. Bonus Experience (Not Required, but Welcome): Previous work on narrative or puzzle-based games. Comfort collaborating in a remote, iterative development environment. Reference Title: If you're curious about the visual and tonal reference we’re aiming for, please look up the Kathy Rain series on Steam. Our game will explore a similar point-and-click structure, but with a more comedic and genre-parody focus. If you’re interested in working on a fully scoped and creatively unique indie project with a clear vision, we’d love to hear from you.
