HR & Payroll Administrator – Ongoing Support for Small Business

We are a small company with two US locations (Chicago & Virginia) and 20 employees. We are seeking a detail-oriented HR & Payroll Consultant to help us transition our HR administration out-of-house. We need an expert to assess our current HR setup and guide us in selecting the best PEO or full-service HR payroll provider (e.g. Paychex, Gusto, ADP). During this transition, we require hands-on support in managing HR tasks particularly payroll processing and compliance for a small business. Responsibilities: Phase 1: HR Transition Consulting • Evaluate our current HR processes and identify the best path forward (PEO vs. payroll & HR system) • Research and compare PEO and payroll providers based on our company’s needs • Provide a recommendation and implementation plan Phase 2: Ongoing HR & Payroll Support (During Transition) • Process payroll accurately and on time using Paylocity • Administer benefits (health insurance, 401(k), PTO tracking, etc.) • Ensure compliance with multi-state labor laws (Illinois & Virginia) Requirements: ✔ Proven experience in HR administration, payroll, and HR strategy consulting ✔ Expertise in PEO selection and HR outsourcing ✔ Familiarity with multi-state payroll & compliance ✔ Strong knowledge of HR software & payroll systems (Gusto, ADP, Paychex, etc.) ✔ Ability to provide clear, strategic recommendations for HR outsourcing Preferred Qualifications: ⭐ Experience helping companies transition from in-house HR to an outsourced solution ⭐ Background in HR compliance, labor laws, and benefits administration ⭐Familiarity with Paylocity
