Construction Estimator for Hospital Project – Window & Exterior/Interior Renovation
We’re seeking a skilled construction estimator to assist with pricing for a federal project at the Alexandria VA Health Care System in Pineville, Louisiana. The work is part of a larger project but this role will focus only on window replacement and related architectural scopes—not roofing (although open to allowing you to do this if you wanted). Project Scope Includes: • Removal and replacement of windows in Building 4: • Removal must avoid damaging existing jambs. • New aluminum window systems with insulated glazing and Low-E coating. • Windows must meet State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) requirements. • Associated Architectural Work: • Repair/replace damaged stucco, exterior wood trim, soffits, and moldings to match existing. • Construction of a new dormer for attic access. • Painting of all exterior walls, soffits, overhangs, trim, etc. • Interior and exterior corridor repairs and repainting. • Retaining wall repair and painting on the north side of the building. • Awning demolition and replacement at the delivery area. Responsibilities: • Review and interpret drawings and specs (provided). • Perform takeoffs and assist with line-item estimating (materials, labor, equipment). • Reach out to suppliers/vendors for pricing on historic-grade windows and finishes. • Build a detailed and organized estimate spreadsheet (Excel or equivalent). • Format pricing per VA bid standards. Requirements: • Experience with commerical construction estimating • Familiarity with historic restoration or SHPO compliance is a plus. • Strong attention to detail and ability to break down scope cleanly. • Ability to communicate clearly and meet a quick turnaround. Timeline: We’re looking to start immediately. A rough draft estimate within 7–10 days is ideal.
