Experienced Nonprofit Bookkeeper for Full-Cycle Accounting (Grants, Payroll, and Reporting)

We are looking for a skilled and detail-oriented bookkeeper with experience in nonprofit accounting to support a growing nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate will have expertise in full-cycle bookkeeping, including grant accounting, payroll, and generating financial reports. You will play a key role in managing financial records, tracking restricted and unrestricted grants, ensuring payroll accuracy, and maintaining clear financial reporting for board meetings and funders. Key Responsibilities: - Full-Cycle Bookkeeping: Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, including categorizing transactions, reconciling bank accounts, and preparing financial statements. - Grant Accounting: Track both restricted and unrestricted grant funds, ensuring proper allocation and reporting. Generate detailed reports for funders and internal stakeholders. - Payroll Processing: Handle payroll for a team of 10+ employees and contractors, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Requirements: - Experience: Proven experience in nonprofit bookkeeping, with a focus on grant accounting and payroll. Familiarity with nonprofit tax requirements is a plus. - Technical Skills: Expert knowledge of QuickBooks Online (QBO), with the ability to set up and manage class tracking, customer/project tracking, and grant accounting. - Payroll Expertise: Experience processing payroll for a team of 10+ employees, including contractors, and handling tax withholdings. - Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, especially with tracking restricted funds and preparing accurate financial reports. - Availability: Ability to commit to approximately 25–40 hours per month (with flexibility based on workload). - Location: U.S.-based preferred (must be comfortable working remotely). Nice to Have: Nonprofit Sector Knowledge: Experience working with nonprofits or NGOs is highly desirable. Advanced QuickBooks Features: Familiarity with budgeting, project tracking, or donation management in QuickBooks.
