The Basics Now - October 1, 2025: Fractional Consulting Role ~4 hours per week October 2025 +: Choose your own hours as a virtual dietician with NovoNest! Job Summary NovoNest is seeking a Lead Maternal & Infant Nutritionist to provide virtual nutrition consultations to clients in Texas, oversee the nutrition service design, and recruit 2-5 additional nutrition providers. This role ensures that nutrition guidance is personalized, evidence-based, and aligned with lactation and postpartum care. Individuals who practice dietetics in Texas in-person or via telehealth and use the title “licensed dietitian” or initials “LD” must hold a Texas dietitian license issued by TDLR. NovoNest is open to supporting registration in Texas for a candidate who is willing and able to seek registration prior to October 2025. Key Responsibilities Support service design and development for lactation care, including refining consultation workflows and educational content. (Now - Sept. 2025) Support platform readiness and Launch (Oct. 2025) Provide virtual nutrition consultations focused on pregnancy, postpartum, breastfeeding, and infant/toddler nutrition. Offer guidance on gestational diabetes, lactation nutrition, formula feeding, early childhood feeding, and food allergies. Develop customized meal plans to support maternal health, breastfeeding, and early childhood development. Collaborate with lactation consultants, doulas, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive care. Educate parents on healthy eating habits, food introduction, and managing special dietary needs. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with Texas telehealth and licensure regulations. Work with the Clinical Advisory Team to enhance nutrition services and workflows. Recruit, onboard, and mentor 2-5 additional nutritionists for the MVP pilot. Qualifications Licensed Dietitian (LD) in Texas (required for medical nutrition therapy) OR qualified Nutritionist providing general wellness guidance. Experience in maternal and/or pediatric nutrition (required). Additional certifications such as Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP), Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), or IBCLC (not required but a plus)! Strong communication skills and comfort with telehealth platforms. Strong mentoring skills and ability to guide nutrition consultants as we grow and scale. Entrepreneurial mindset. Not Required but wonderful to have: Certified Nutrition Specialist in Maternal & Infant Nutrition – Some organizations, such as Cornell or the Institute for Functional Medicine, offer specialized courses in maternal nutrition. Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition (CSP) – Offered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR), this certification requires at least 2,000 hours of pediatric nutrition practice and passing an exam. Certificate of Training in Pediatric Nutrition – Provided by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND), offering specialized knowledge in infant and child nutrition. Certified Specialist in Neonatal Nutrition (CSNC) – A credential for dietitians working specifically in neonatal intensive care (NICU) settings. Virtual Nutrition Counseling Considerations: Communication Skills: As an online consultant, it's essential to develop strong communication skills to effectively teach and support clients remotely. HIPAA Compliance: Virtual lactation consultants must ensure compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) to protect patient privacy. While enforcement might be waived temporarily for clinicians using non-compliant platforms if accessing compliant platforms is a barrier, it's best to use HIPAA compliant platforms such as NovoNest. Technical Skills: You'll need to be comfortable using video conferencing platforms and other technologies for remote consultations.
