Real Estate Market Research Analyst
Boutique real estate consulting firm seeking a detail-oriented market researcher to support our team in conducting off-campus market analysis and peer institution (colleges and universities) analysis. This role requires strong attention to detail, data analytics skills, and market research expertise. The ideal candidate will gather and analyze rental data, assess market conditions, and benchmark peer institutions to inform strategic decision-making for student housing projects. Responsibilities: • Conduct off-campus housing market research, analyzing rental rates, occupancy trends, lease terms, and available inventory, and identifying local development pipeline. • Source and analyze rental data from multiple platforms. • Compile clear, well-organized summary tables, charts, and visuals to communicate findings. • Compare on-campus vs. off-campus affordability and trends, identifying key takeaways. • Perform peer institution benchmarking, comparing housing rates, unit types, and policies across similar institutions. • Assist in drafting concise, data-driven narratives for reports and presentations. • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness in all research deliverables. Qualifications: • Experience in market research, data analysis, or real estate (student housing preferred). • Strong proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data cleaning, and analysis). • Ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights. • Proven ability to persistently and creatively source data, overcoming obstacles such as restricted access, inconsistencies, or gaps in available information. • Strong writing and communication skills to summarize findings concisely. • Prior experience working with higher education institutions or familiarity with the Canadian rental market is a plus.
