Certified Public Accountant (CPA) – Independent Contractor
We are a small business based in New Jersey seeking a reliable and experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) to support us with our financial and tax needs on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a thorough understanding of accounting principles, and a passion for delivering exceptional financial services. This role involves preparing and analyzing financial records, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to individuals and businesses. Scope of Work: • Prepare and file federal and New Jersey state tax returns • Provide proactive tax planning and savings strategies • Ensure compliance with NJ-specific tax requirements, including Sales & Use Tax and Gross Income Tax • Advise on quarterly estimated payments and year-end financial planning • Offer bookkeeping review and guidance (we use QuickBooks Online) • Respond to IRS or NJ tax notices, if needed • Answer occasional financial questions and provide clear, actionable advice • Recommend systems or processes to improve financial clarity and organization Ideal Candidate Will Have: • Active CPA license in the state of New Jersey • Experience working with small businesses • Up-to-date knowledge of NJ tax laws and compliance requirements • Ability to explain complex financial topics in a clear, friendly, and approachable way • Strong attention to detail and responsiveness
