Project Overview EZGo Cars is a fast‑growing automotive‑technology startup modernizing online car auctions. We’re rebuilding our live auction web app in React to deliver lightning‑fast bidding, real‑time vehicle data, and a best‑in‑class user experience. We need a talented front‑end engineer in the Greater Los Angeles area who can collaborate closely with our back‑end team (Node/Express, PostgreSQL, Redis) via REST APIs and WebSocket streams—and who’s willing to meet on‑site in Glendale/Downtown LA a few times each month. Key Responsibilities Green‑field UI rebuild – Architect and code a new React 18+ SPA for live automotive auctions (desktop & mobile‑friendly). Real‑time data – Consume REST APIs and bi‑directional WebSocket events for instant bid updates, timers, notifications, and chat. Component library & styling – Set up modular components using TypeScript, Tailwind or Styled‑Components, Storybook, and responsive design best practices. State management – Implement efficient patterns (e.g., Zustand, Redux Toolkit, React Query) to keep the UI blazing fast under heavy traffic. Testing & performance – Write unit/integration tests (Jest, React Testing Library), optimize bundle size, and monitor Core Web Vitals. Collaboration – Pair with product, UX, and back‑end engineers; attend periodic in‑person white‑boarding sessions in LA; participate in daily Slack/Zoom stand‑ups. Must‑Have Qualifications 4+ yrs professional front‑end experience (at least 2 yrs with modern React & TypeScript). Proven track record building real‑time apps that leverage WebSockets (chat, trading, gaming, IoT, etc.). Deep understanding of component architecture, hooks, and state management patterns. Comfortable integrating with RESTful APIs and transforming JSON payloads. Strong eye for UX details and responsive design. Located within driving distance of Los Angeles and able to occasionally meet on‑site. Ability to work autonomously in a startup environment.
