I’m working on a modular bioreactor platform, and this is intended to be the main control board for the system. The design is nearly complete in KiCad, but I need a second set of eyes to help finalize and polish it before fabrication, as I am not fluent or proficient with KiCad, or PCB design in general. The board is 110.6mm x 106.0mm, with 148 components and a fairly standard feature set: ESP32, USB, eMMC, sensor headers, BLDC Motor Control, power regulation, and a few protection circuits (TVS, fuse, etc.). I’d like someone with a sharp eye to help with the final polish before fabrication. What I Need: - This isn’t a start-from-scratch job — the layout is in pretty good shape, but I want: - A design review for DRC/ERC issues, trace sanity, egregious errors, and general quality - Cleanup or optimization of any sketchy routing or tight component placement - Final footprint/clearance check (especially for connectors, silkscreen, and test points) - Ensuring it’s JLCPCB-compliant with proper outputs (Gerber, BoM, pick-and-place) Deliverables 1. Cleaned and finalized .kicad_pcb and schematic files 2. DRC/ERC-clean project 3. Finalize any unconnected pads or components 4. Confirm correct trace widths for power paths and motor control 5. Review capacitor, sensor header, USB data routing and placement with proper ESD protection 6. Ensure proper silkscreen alignment and part labels 7. Finalized Gerbers, BoM, and placement files 8. A brief summary of changes and why they were made (bullets or comments are totally fine) 9. Any recommendations for future revisions (optional, but appreciated) I’m soloing this project and learning KiCad as I go. I don’t need full hand-holding, but I do appreciate transparency so I can understand what was improved and why. If you like annotating things or leaving light design notes, even better. Budget - My base budget is $250 flat for the review and polish. - If you find that there’s significant rework needed (like full trace re-routing, grounding revisions, or heavy optimization), I’m open to negotiating up to $400, especially if it really improves the design. Let’s start with a quick review and align on the scope from there. Board Overview: 4 layer board (Board stats screenshot attached) All assembly can be done on one side of the board, so nothing is placed underneath. Not specific dimensions or size constraints, I was just trying to keep it small. This board is responsible for: - Driving 7 motors total: -- 1 × 3-phase BLDC motor using a DRV10987SPWPR -- 4 × 5V PWM-controlled motors via discrete MOSFETs -- 2 × 12V PWM-controlled motors --- All motor outputs routed to screw terminals for now, but open to other options based on input. - Managing 4 sensor headers (2×4 each) with the following pins: -- 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V, 12V (selectable power inputs) -- SCL, SDA (I²C lines) -- AGND and PGND (split ground domains for analog and power) - Powering and isolating multiple voltage rails: -- Input: 24V, between 8-10 amps -- Local regulation to 12V, 5V, 3.3V, and 1.8V - Handling data and storage: -- USB-A, USB-C (via FE1.1S USB hub) -- eMMC and MicroSD footprints - Real-time operation with a battery-backed DS3231 RTC - Built around the ESP32-S3-WROOM-1 module - Designed with a split AGND/PGND ground layer
