Prototype Developer Needed: Raspberry Pi System for Synchronized Multimodal Frequency Output

We’re looking for an experienced hardware + embedded software developer (or small team) to build a functional prototype of a self-contained, frequency-driven multimodal stimulation device. This system is based on a Raspberry Pi 4 and must drive audio, visual (LED), and vibrotactile (Bluetooth Pulse device) output in precise synchronization. This is a cost-conscious prototype build. Our goal is not a polished product, but a robust, functional, and replicable prototype that demonstrates consistent performance, proper timing, and ease of use. We are seeking applicants who can handle the full stack — including 3D printed or otherwise affordable housing. What Needs to Be Built: ----------------- Hardware: ----------------- Core: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B (4GB) Audio: Two small full-range speakers (3” or similar) powered by an onboard stereo amp Visual: 1-meter WS2812B LED strip (flicker synced to stimulation frequency) Tactile: BLE communication with the Pulse vibrotactile device for synchronized vibration UI: Rotary encoder with push button + 0.96" OLED display Power: Single 5V 4A adapter to power Pi and LED strip Cooling: Internal Pi fan/heatsink (e.g., ICE Tower) ----------------- Housing: ----------------- Compact bar-style enclosure Includes frosted acrylic or polycarbonate LED diffuser Either: 3D printed enclosure (STL files and sourcing included), or Propose a cost-effective prebuilt option ----------------- Functionality ----------------- Select stimulation presets (e.g., “10 Hz Focus”, “6 Hz Relax”) using dial + screen Generate synchronized output across: Monaural beats or amplitude-modulated pink noise (audio) LED flicker (visual) Bluetooth command pulses to the Pulse device (vibrotactile) Load preset options from a modes.json file On boot, connect to a predefined Wi-Fi network (via wifi_config.txt on USB) Fetch updated config file (JSON) from a remote location if available ----------------- Deliverables ----------------- Fully working, tested physical prototype (shipped to us) All hardware schematics and wiring diagrams All source code, with documentation: Audio and LED drivers BLE pairing and Pulse control Mode selection interface (encoder + OLED) Boot-up Wi-Fi config reader and remote updater STL or CAD files for housing + assembly instructions Instructions for replication and flashing OS image ----------------- Requirements ----------------- Proven Raspberry Pi hardware development experience BLE device control (e.g., Pulse or similar) Experience with LED strip timing + GPIO/SPI/PWM on Pi Audio playback integration Rotary encoder and OLED display control Custom power setups and cooling considerations Optional: basic 3D modeling or access to 3D printing resources ----------------- What We’re Looking For ----------------- This is a cost-sensitive prototype, not a polished commercial product. You must be capable of: Building and testing the unit end-to-end Delivering clear, reproducible documentation Either producing the enclosure yourself or offering a low-cost fabrication solution ----------------- To Apply ----------------- Please submit: A short proposal outlining how you would approach the build A timeline for development and delivery A cost estimate (including parts, labor, shipping, and enclosure) Examples of related hardware projects if available We’ll evaluate candidates based on feasibility, cost-efficiency, experience, and clarity of execution.
