Design patent process and drawings

My brother and I are developing a unique product and we are looking to better understand the full process of filing a design patent with the USPTO. Everything from preparing proper drawings and understanding filing requirements to actually submitting the application ourselves. Our goal is to make sure the design is properly protected and filed correctly the first time, and we’re hoping for guidance through that process, especially since we plan to file as an individual (micro entity). I’d also like to get your input on whether my current design direction seems patentable.
