I’m looking for early, high-level reader feedback on the first 20,000 words of a contemporary LGBTQ+ romance manuscript. The story features a slow-burn sapphic relationship between a polished, emotionally repressed crisis manager and a messy, magnetic actress navigating scandal, desire, and control. Think Devil Wears Prada meets Evelyn Hugo, with dry humor, emotional precision, and strong commercial appeal. This is not a request for copyedits or grammar fixes. I’m looking for insight on: Whether the dynamic between the leads feels compelling and lived-in Pacing and flow—does it hold your attention? Clarity of voice and emotional tone Anything that pulls you out as a reader Bonus points if you read widely in queer romance or contemporary fiction with strong emotional arcs. Ideal tone for feedback: written, thoughtful, clear, and honest—but not cruel. I don’t need cheerleading, but I’m not interested in snark either.
