Financial Systems & Automation Specialist Overview We are seeking an experienced Financial Systems & Automation Specialist to transform our client’s financial reporting processes through advanced automation, system optimization, and data integration. This role will be instrumental in streamlining our financial operations, particularly focused on close file processes and cash reconciliation workflows. Key Responsibilities Financial Systems Optimization • Manage and enhance the client's Workday financial reporting systems, including configuration of income statement reports and journal entry level data extraction • Implement and maintain Power Query ETL processes to transform financial data from multiple sources • Develop and maintain Power Pivot data models, including creating appropriate measures and relationships between datasets • Create standardized, automated reconciliation frameworks that replace manual spreadsheets Data Management & Integration • Configure data extraction from Workday to support monthly close processes • Integrate historical actuals, budget data, and various mapping files into cohesive reporting solutions • Develop processes for handling adjustments to historical actuals and ensuring they tie out correctly • Design and maintain data refresh workflows that support accurate month-end closing Reporting & Analytics • Build financial reports using Power Pivot cube formulas and other Excel-based techniques • Create interactive dashboards and visualizations in Tableau to provide intuitive financial insights • Establish connections between Workday, Azure Databricks, and reporting tools for seamless data flow • Develop variance analysis reports that meet FP&A team requirements • Selection of reports applicant will be accountable for • Partnership Distributions • Financial Systems (Datarails, Vena, etc.) • Performance Dashboards • Asset Management • Monthly Close P&L file • Recurring Reports - FP&A • Workday Data-as-a-Service • J/E Upload Template Automation • Supplier Allocation Changes • Time Tracking in Aderant • Balance Sheet Reconciliation incl. J/E Level Data • Recurring Reports - Accounting • Anomaly Detection in GL Activity • Solutions Billing Reconciliations • A/P Reconciliations • Cash Management Reconciliations Process Improvement • Identify and implement improvements to simplify systems and scale operations through standardized templates • Document financial processes and create thorough operational guides for financial procedures • Train finance team members on self-service reporting capabilities • Drive broad adoption of process improvements to maximize efficiency Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including demonstration of the following capabilities: 1. Creating and managing Power Query data transformation workflows to load and integrate multiple data sources 2. Building complex Power Pivot data models with proper relationships between tables 3. Designing custom measures in Power Pivot for financial reporting needs 4. Writing cube formulas to pull data from Power Pivot models into user-friendly reports 5. Automating data ingestion from multiple sources for high-volume client reporting 6. Creating and modifying Excel macros for batch processing hundreds of client documents 7. Developing reusable Excel templates with standardized calculations 8. Building solutions with conditional display logic based on client circumstances 9. Creating Excel-based processes for data validation during financial reporting cycles 10. Connecting Excel to external data sources and managing refresh sequences and dependencies • Strong experience with Workday Financials configuration and reporting • Expertise in financial close processes and reconciliation automation • Working knowledge of Tableau dashboard creation and optimization • Experience with Azure Databricks or similar data processing platforms • Understanding of financial data structures and relationships Accounting & Financial Skills 1. Financial Reconciliation Process Design: Developing structured reconciliation methodologies for cash accounts, A/P, A/R, and complex financial instruments 2. Partnership Distribution Calculation: Understanding complex accounting rules for partnership distributions, including EBITDA and unit adjustments 3. Statement Template Standardization: Creating standardized financial templates that accommodate various client scenarios while maintaining consistency 4. Journal Entry Management: Knowledge of proper journal entry structure and approval workflows for accurate financial reporting 5. Anomaly Detection & Financial Controls: Implementing financial controls to identify potential issues before they affect client reporting 6. This role is designated as hybrid with strategic on-site presence required. The ideal candidate will: • Be prepared for regular in-person work at the client's Miami and/or NYC offices, particularly during critical project phases (approximately 1-2 weeks per month) • Develop face-to-face relationships with key stakeholders to facilitate more effective remote collaboration during interim periods • Maintain a professional in-office presence that represents DF Analytics' commitment to hands-on client service • Demonstrate strong productivity both on-site and during remote work periods • While remote-based candidates will be considered, preference may be given to those within reasonable commuting distance to Miami or NYC, or those with exceptional flexibility for extended on-site engagements • Travel expenses to client sites will be covered (airfare, accommodations, and per diem for meals); travel time is not compensated Working With Our Boutique Model Our boutique structure combines the agility of a small firm with the organizational clarity of larger enterprises.
