Job Summary The Payroll/HR Specialist is responsible for all payroll and HR functions at Headcount including payroll, onboarding, compliance, maintaining payroll records, workers comp and associated insurances and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company regulations. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, familiarity with payroll software, and an understanding of payroll and HR laws.Candidates must have a positive attitude, exceptional attention to detail, be able to work independently and have proven experience. Payroll Responsibilities - Manage end-to-end process for multi-state payroll including onboarding, processing, oversight, reporting, troubleshooting/resolving payroll issues and offboarding - Ensure accurate set up of pay codes, deductions, benefits, tax and direct deposit for all employees - Assist with compensation and demographic record changes - Handle employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies - Act as point person between Headcount staff and payroll company (UKG) for issue resolution and payroll corrections - Assist with year-end payroll processing, including W-2 and tax filings - Stay informed about changes in payroll regulations and best practices HR/Admin Responsibilities - Perform new hire process including employee and client onboarding, education and customer support - Manage benefits administration including vendor management, new hire enrollment and reporting - Oversee compliance with federal, state and local employment laws and regulations; recommend best practices; review policies and necessary initiate changes - Address employee and client issues thoroughly and courteously - Create, maintain and organize HR documents including employee documents, personnel files, performance reviews, contracts, and visas - Review, update and maintain all employee documents and employee handbook - Ensure fluid information sharing between different divisions Qualifications - Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (preferred) - Minimum of 5 years experience in payroll processing (experience with UKG preferred). - Strong attention to detail and accuracy - Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements - Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality This is a full-time remote position.
