Job Description: As a Health Information Systems Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring that our health information systems are running smoothly and securely. You will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing our electronic health records (EHR) and other health IT systems. In this position, you’ll work closely with medical staff, IT teams, and management to support the seamless flow of patient data across our organization. Whether it's configuring new software, troubleshooting system issues, or ensuring compliance with privacy regulations, your work will directly impact the quality of care we provide. Your role will also involve training hospital staff on how to use the information systems effectively, ensuring that everyone is up to speed on the latest tools and best practices. As part of a team committed to continuous improvement, you’ll help us stay on top of emerging technologies in health IT to keep our systems at the cutting edge. Responsibilities: You’ll be tasked with ensuring the integrity of patient data by ensuring the security and functionality of all health information systems, including the EHR. This will involve everything from resolving technical issues and coordinating system upgrades to performing regular audits to ensure data accuracy and compliance with health regulations. You will also support system migrations or new implementations and provide ongoing training to staff to ensure the smooth operation of these systems. Working closely with other departments, you’ll identify areas for improvement and propose solutions to streamline workflows and enhance the quality of care. Additionally, you'll be responsible for managing user access, troubleshooting system problems, and assisting in the development of reports that provide critical data for decision-making. Qualifications and Skills: The ideal candidate for this role will have a deep understanding of health information systems, with hands-on experience in managing EHRs and other healthcare IT platforms. A degree in health information management, IT, or a related field is preferred, and certifications such as Certified Health Informatics Systems Professional (CHISP) or Certified Professional in Health Information Management (CPHIMSS) are a plus. You should be comfortable navigating complex systems and troubleshooting issues independently, as well as being able to communicate technical concepts in a way that’s clear and accessible to non-technical staff. A strong attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams are essential. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and data security practices is a must, as patient confidentiality and system integrity are at the heart of this role.
