Job Description: We are seeking an experienced graphic designer with advanced Adobe InDesign and Photoshop skills to refine a complex vendor map for the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market, under a work-for-hire agreement using our existing design files, which we fully own. The map, created in InDesign with Photoshop-linked elements, features over 100 vendors across two pages (map on front, directory on back). The freelancer will simplify the file structure, automate vendor updates, and export print-ready PDFs for a 24" x 36" coroplast sign and an 11" x 17" trifold brochure. All modified files must be returned to us, with no intellectual property claims by the freelancer. This is a print-focused map and directory design task, not a slide-based presentation project. Project Scope: Simplify File Structure: Flatten all Photoshop-linked background images (e.g., streets, landmarks) into a single layer or rasterized image in InDesign. Reduce InDesign layers/elements, particularly vendor tents and icons, to streamline file management. Automate Vendor Updates: Implement a system (e.g., InDesign Data Merge, scripting, or linked text frames) to update vendor information (name, description, tent icon, street location) in one place, automatically updating both map and directory pages. Ensure color-coordinated tent and street icons remain consistent. Export Print-Ready PDFs: Export a high-resolution PDF (300 DPI, with bleed) for a 24" x 36" coroplast sign, optimized for large-format printing. Export a modified PDF for an 11" x 17" trifold brochure, with fold lines, margins, and layout adjustments for proper folding. Work-for-Hire Terms: This is a work-for-hire project using our existing InDesign and Photoshop files, fully owned by the Troy Waterfront Farmers Market. The freelancer must deliver all modified files (InDesign, PDFs, and supporting files) upon completion. The freelancer agrees not to claim any intellectual property rights to the map or deliverables. Deliverables: Updated InDesign file with simplified layers and automated vendor updates. Two print-ready PDFs: one for 24" x 36" coroplast sign, one for 11" x 17" trifold brochure. Brief documentation on updating vendor information and exporting PDFs. All modified project files returned to us. Provided Materials: Original InDesign files, Photoshop-linked images, and all fonts (owned by us). Reference PDF of the current map (two pages) attached to this job posting. Required Skills: Advanced Adobe InDesign skills, including Data Merge, scripting, or dynamic text linking for automation. Strong Adobe Photoshop skills for layer flattening and image optimization. Experience with large-format and brochure print design, including bleed, DPI, and fold settings. Understanding of work-for-hire agreements and willingness to forgo IP claims. Attention to detail for visual consistency (e.g., tent colors, street icons). Ability to provide clear instructions for non-technical users. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with festival/market maps or trifold brochures. Familiarity with InDesign automation tools (e.g., JavaScript, XML, or plugins). Portfolio showing large-format prints, brochures, or automated print projects. Prior work-for-hire projects with clear file handover. Project Timeline: Estimated 12-18 hours of work. Completion within 1-2 weeks from project start. Budget: Please provide your hourly rate or fixed-price quote. Typical rates for InDesign/Photoshop print projects are $75 - 125/hour, but we’re open to discussing based on expertise.
