Scope of Work This proposal outlines the structural engineering plan for modifying load-bearing elements within the house. The work consists of two main tasks: • Removing the 1st-floor interior load-bearing wall and replacing it with LVL beams and wooden columns. • Replacing the main load-bearing beam in the basement with LVL beams supported by existing and new CMU walls. Proposed Solution 1st Floor Modifications To minimize the ceiling drop below 7’-11”, I propose installing three LVL beams, each measuring 1 ¾” x 9 ¼”. These beams will be supported by 4x4 wooden columns, ensuring structural integrity and alignment with the overall design goals. Basement Modifications The current load-bearing beam of 6x8 dimensions will be replaced with two LVL beams, each measuring 1 ¾” x 7 ¼”. The beams will be supported at both ends on the existing CMU wall and in the middle on a new CMU wall specifically constructed for additional support and stability.
