Our HWS team members are located all over the world. About the Role: This role is a long-term contract position and will be working as an individual contributor. Upwork is looking for a driven and analytical individual to join our Revenue Finance team and help drive timely and accurate reporting as well as shape strategic decisions through rigorous financial modeling, data analysis, and forecasting. This position reports into the Sr. Finance Manager, Revenue. We are looking for someone who is a highly motivated teammate, has excellent attention to detail, leads by example, and works well both cross functionally and independently. You will play a key role in forecasting revenue and marketplace trends, partnering cross-functionally to support decision-making, and delivering actionable insights to key stakeholders. This role goes beyond traditional finance—it's where finance meets data science, and your ability to draw insights from complex data sets will directly impact our strategic direction. At Upwork, we support a hybrid workforce—this role can be performed remotely, with opportunities for in-person collaboration at our key hub locations. Key Responsibilities: Build and maintain robust weekly, monthly and quarterly revenue reporting and forecasting models that reflect business performance and key drivers using a combination of detailed input driver metrics as well as statistical analysis Analyze and interpret marketplace behavior data and key metrics to improve forecast accuracy Perform and present to Upwork’s finance and company leadership on monthly variances, revenue updates, KPI tracking, trending analyses, and recommendations to the business Deliver weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue forecasts in collaboration with FP&A and business stakeholders Develop reporting dashboards and data visualizations to track performance against plan Partner with cross-functional teams (Strategic Finance, Data Science and Analytics, Product, Accounting and Marketing) to drive a data-informed culture Translate complex data trends and statistical outputs into clear narratives for executive audiences Contribute to strategic planning, scenario modeling, and long-range financial forecasting Identify and drive process improvements to create efficiencies and accuracy of relevant processes What We’re Looking For: 5-7+ years of experience in FP&A, corporate finance, or a similar data-driven finance function Strong foundation in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets and financial modeling tools; experience with SQL, Looker, Tableau, or similar data tools is a plus Comfort working with large data sets; ability to extract insights and drive recommendations Experience using statistical techniques (e.g., regression, time series analysis) to improve forecasts is a strong plus Excellent communication and storytelling skills—able to simplify complex data for a variety of stakeholders Self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and evolving environment Nice to Have: Background or coursework in statistics, investment banking, data science, economics, or applied mathematics Experience in a marketplace, SaaS, or tech company environment Familiarity with Python, R, or other statistical programming languages Upwork is proudly committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce.
