# **Description** We are a small web technology agency seeking an additional, talented, senior, and creative Magento engineer to join our team to expand our capacity. To be a great fit for this role, you should possess most or all of the following skills and characteristics: - **Expert-level experience with Magento 2 (both frontend and backend)** - Strong experience with PHP, including object-oriented programming and design patterns - Expert-level experience with Magento's theming system and frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) - Expert-level experience writing backend Magento modules, extensions, and customizations - Expert-level experience designing and maintaining organized, efficient, and performant databases in the context of Magento - Expert-level experience writing efficient and performant SQL queries for Magento - Xdebug should be a core part of your Magento development workflow - Experience with other eCommerce platforms (e.g., Shopify, BigCommerce) is a plus - Previous experience with Tailwind CSS is a plus - Pixel perfect frontend implementation should be the only way that you work within Magento's frontend framework - Cross-browser and fluid responsiveness should be core to your Magento frontend development workflow - Obsessive about writing clean, organized, efficient, and well-documented Magento code - Fluent in frontend performance best practices within the context of Magento - Fluent with technical SEO best practices for Magento, including: - Meta tags - OG tags - schema.org structured data - Familiar with i18n implementation and best practices in Magento - Familiar with (and ideally passionate about) a11y implementation and best practices in Magento - Work organized, quickly, and efficiently - Skilled communicator with English fluency - Comfortable working within and meeting deadlines - Engineering team-lead experience is a plus - Any and all devops experience, particularly related to Magento deployments, is a plus # **Role Expectations** ## Hard Skills - You are a senior-level Magento engineer who is qualified to navigate the majority of Magento development cases that come your way on a daily basis without needing to spend time researching solutions - For those cases which you do not have the prior experience to immediately know how to solve, you know precisely where and how to find the answers that you need in an efficient manner - You are passionate about crafting Magento solutions that meet requirements and constraints in the best way possible - You are passionate about maintainability in the Magento code that you write, making life easier for your future self or teammates - You continuously seek to improve on your craft as a Magento engineer - You are highly experienced in designing and implementing Magento extensions and customizations built around efficiency, speed-to-ship, and developer experience - You are fluent in designing and writing Magento code that is light, performant, and easy to maintain using current best practices and beyond - You are very comfortable producing thorough, high-accuracy engineering estimates that you meet consistently ## Soft Skills - Work carefully and deliberately - spend the time needed to do it right within the Magento ecosystem. - Conduct your Magento development work in an organized, efficient, and well-documented fashion. - Always leave your Magento work in a handoff-ready state (even if you plan to continue). - Ask when you need help with Magento-specific challenges. - Verify the results of your Magento work in all stages and environments before passing to QA. - Consistently provide status updates to PMs and (where relevant) fellow team members. - Be clear and concise in all communications. - Use team workspaces effectively: Clickup, Notion, Everhour, Calendar, Passbolt, Slack, Bitbucket, etc. - Meet deadlines, or alert team members when timelines need adjustment. - Speak up when you recognize areas where improvement is needed within the Magento project or workflow. - Be a lively participant in our community, culture, and values. - Research, take classes, or participate in groups to stay abreast of changes in the Magento ecosystem and eCommerce industry. ## Benefits This role is on an hourly contract basis and is 100% remote as we are a fully-distributed organization.
