⸻ Position Overview: We are seeking a committed and detail-oriented Volunteer Accounting & Grant Research Assistant to help us manage nonprofit finances and identify funding opportunities. You will play a key role in sustaining our programs and helping our fiscally sponsored partners access vital resources. ⸻ Responsibilities: Grant Research & Support • Research grant opportunities aligned with our mission and current programs • Track deadlines, eligibility, and application requirements • Maintain a grant calendar and update our funding database • Assist in gathering required materials for grant proposals Nonprofit Bookkeeping & Accounting Support • Record donations, expenses, and grants in accounting software (QuickBooks, Wave, or Excel) • Track program-specific and fiscal sponsorship funds • Reconcile bank statements and prepare monthly summaries • Help prepare documents for annual filings (IRS Form 990, CA Charitable Registry) • Assist with reports for fundraising events and donor accountability ⸻ Qualifications: • Experience or coursework in nonprofit accounting, bookkeeping, or grant writing/research • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Comfortable with spreadsheets and cloud tools (Google Workspace, Excel) • Familiarity with accounting platforms (QuickBooks, Wave, etc.) a plus • Passion for social justice, LGBTQ+ rights, or survivor advocacy ⸻ What You’ll Gain: • Experience working with a mission-driven nonprofit and real-world impact • Professional development in grants, nonprofit compliance, and fiscal sponsorship • A letter of recommendation, LinkedIn endorsement, or service certificate • Potential opportunity to transition into a paid or stipend role ⸻ To Apply: Email your resume or LinkedIn profile to [volunteers @standuptoabuse.org] with the subject: Volunteer Grant + Accounting Role.
