Logo Design: Fort Reno Punk & Tennis - A DC Culture & Sports Blend (Crest/Badge Style)

$250.00
Fixed price

Project Overview & Goal: We are seeking a creative designer to craft a truly distinctive logo that visually merges the worlds of vintage tennis and punk rock, with a sophisticated-meets-subversive aesthetic inspired by Rowing Blazers. The logo should take the form of a crest or badge, blending the elegance of athletic club iconography with the raw, DIY spirit of punk zines. The design must connect directly to Washington, D.C., with prominent references to Fort Reno and a clearly included DC flag. This project blends heritage, rebellion, and radical place-based awareness. Brand Personality & Vibe: Think 'Preppy with a Rebellious Twist' – Ivy League/Howard polish meets the raw energy of DC punk/hardcore. The visual tone should be a vintage athletic crest combined with DIY punk zine aesthetics, aiming for an authentic, bold, raw, nostalgic, irreverent, radical, and rooted feel. We envision an embroidered patch or stitched badge texture, with hints of spray paint, distressing, or zine collage. Historical Sensitivity & Context (CRITICAL): Fort Reno's history is deeply significant, scarred by racial displacement and discrimination that shattered a thriving African American community. While celebrating the vibrant current cultural energy, the designer must approach the Fort Reno element with fierce awareness and unwavering respect for this past. The logo must embody a forward-looking, inclusive spirit that insists on recognizing every layer of this location's history, especially its painful ones. The concert series, created by volunteers, was dedicated to free music for the public. Core Logo Elements to Include: Overall Shape: Crest or shield format. DC Flag: Three red stars over two red bars, prominently placed. Tennis: Crossed vintage wooden tennis rackets; a tennis ball with a mohawk or piercing/safety pin. Punk: Safety pins, spike bracelet around racket handle; stylized anarchy net or zine collage background. Fort Reno: Silhouette of the Fort Reno tower, map lines, or marker pin. Text: 'Fort Reno Punk & Tennis' (main font: serif/collegiate block); Optional motto/subtext: 'Serve Loud. Live Louder.' (handwritten/stencil/ransom-note). Color Palette: Primary Navy, Red (DC Flag), Cream. Accents: Black, Grass Green, Neon Pop. Deliverables & Budget for $250: This budget covers 1-2 initial logo concepts and 1-2 rounds of revisions on the chosen concept. Final deliverables will include: Vector files (.AI, .EPS, .SVG), High-res raster files (.JPG, .PNG transparent background), Black-and-white version, and a simplified version for social avatars/favicon. Full copyright ownership will be transferred to the client. Timeline: Initial concepts within 2 weeks; final delivery within 4 weeks (subject to timely feedback). We value designers who appreciate nuanced cultural narratives. Please share relevant portfolio pieces."
