Grant Writer Needed for Powerful, Personal Documentary on Faith and Family

Still My Child is a feature-length documentary exploring the emotional and spiritual journeys of families whose children have left their religious communities. Told with honesty, warmth, and deep humanity, the film centers on love, loss, identity, and the resilience of family ties. Filming begins Summer 2025. We’re seeking an experienced grant writer with a passion for meaningful storytelling and a strong track record of securing funding for documentaries, social-impact projects, or arts/media. Responsibilities: Identify relevant grants and funding opportunities (film, arts, faith, identity, family systems, mental health, etc.) Collaborate with producer (me!) to develop a compelling narrative pitch, budget justification, and application materials Draft and edit proposals for submission to foundations, film funds, and cultural organizations Help strategize the funding timeline and submission calendar Ideal Candidate Has: Proven success securing grants for films or non-profit projects Excellent writing skills and an eye for emotionally resonant storytelling Familiarity with U.S.-based arts and documentary grants (e.g. IDA, ITVS, Sundance, Catapult, Ford Foundation, etc.) Bonus if you’ve worked on stories involving faith, deconversion, or intergenerational narratives Scope: Initial consultation + grant research At least 2–3 grant applications within the next 2 months Opportunity to continue working together through the full production cycle To apply: Please include: A brief note on why this project speaks to you Links to grants you’ve successfully secured (or samples, if available) Your proposed hourly or project-based rate Looking forward to finding someone who believes in the heart of this project as much as I do.
