From final formatting and cover preparation to metadata, ISBN setup, and launch coordination, your attention to detail and familiarity with Amazon’s requirements will ensure a smooth, cost-effective rollout. If you’re resourceful, organized, and eager to learn KDP workflows, this is a perfect project-based opportunity. --- ### **Key Responsibilities** 1. **Manuscript Formatting & Proofreading** * Convert Word/Google Docs file into a KDP-compliant print-ready PDF (appropriate trim size, margins, gutter, headers/footers). * Apply consistent styles (chapter headings, subheads, body text, page numbers). * Perform a final proofread for typos, spacing issues, and layout glitches. 2. **Cover Coordination** * Obtain and apply the author’s cover design or coordinate with a freelance designer on KDP’s paperback cover template (front, spine, back). * Verify correct dimensions (including spine width based on final page count and paper type) and bleed settings. 3. **ISBN & Book Details Setup** * Assign or procure ISBN for the paperback (author-provided or free KDP ISBN). * Complete KDP metadata fields — title/subtitle, author name, description, keywords, categories (BISAC codes), language, etc. * Upload interior PDF, cover PDF, and verify preview in KDP’s online proofing tool. 4. **Pricing & Distribution** * Research comparable paperback pricing in target markets. * Set list price to balance affordability, royalties, and printing cost. * Configure distribution options (expanded distribution, territories). 5. **Launch Planning & Scheduling** * Create a simple launch calendar with pre-order (if used), launch date, review request schedule, and promotion timing. * Coordinate with author on marketing assets (social posts, email templates). 6. **Post-Launch Monitoring & Optimization** * Monitor initial KDP dashboard metrics (sales, page reads, inventory orders). * Make minor metadata adjustments (keywords, categories) to improve discoverability. * Generate weekly summary reports for the author. --- ### **Required Skills & Experience** * Prior experience formatting and publishing paperbacks via Amazon KDP. * Strong command of Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and basic PDF tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat). * Familiarity with KDP’s cover templates and interior specification guidelines. * Excellent written English, strong attention to detail, and proofing skills. * Self-starter attitude: proactive in identifying issues and proposing solutions. * Ability to track multiple tasks and deadlines in tools like Trello, Asana, or Google Sheets. --- ### **Nice to Have** * Basic understanding of ISBN registration processes. * Introductory knowledge of Amazon Ads or promotional strategies. * Experience with Canva or simple graphic tools for minor cover tweaks. * Familiarity with book marketing best practices (social media scheduling, email blasts). --- ### **How to Apply** Please email your resume and a brief cover note highlighting your KDP experience and two samples (links or screenshots) of print-ready interiors or covers you’ve prepared.
