Job Post – Lead React/Next.js Engineer (Rapid Prototype for Scalable Rural Health App)(Hourly, Remote, ~40-60 hours, Completion Deadline: June 10th) 1 | Why We’re Hiring We're creating a user-friendly web app that enables remote Alaska residents to quickly connect with healthcare providers or trained volunteers, securing an appointment or callback within thirty minutes. Phase 0–1 Goal: Interactive web-based MVP with mock scheduling; no PHI or HIPAA requirements yet. Phase 2 and Beyond: Integrate HIPAA-compliant services (Twilio, FHIR, secure backend) and expand across Alaska We need an experienced React/Next.js engineer who can: Immediately set up a robust Next.js 14 codebase. Build a clean service-layer architecture allowing future upgrades to real scheduling and HIPAA-compliant services without altering the frontend. Deliver a polished, clickable prototype by June 10th. 2 | What We Provide Detailed discussions about interface requirements (no Figma design provided at this stage). 3 | Your Tasks and Deliverables Sprint Hours (max) Deliverables Scaffold & Setup Up to 20 - Tech memo (Next.js 14, Tailwind CSS)- Repo skeleton (helperService, appointmentService, authService stubs)- Deployed to Vercel Prototype Build Up to 40 - Implement UI based on discussed requirements- Data loaded from JSON/Firebase/Supabase- Mock scheduling and confirmation banners- Simple filtering (doctor, counselor, volunteer)- Public demo URL & README 4 | Ideal Skills React 18, Next.js 14, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS Firebase or Supabase backend (migration-ready for HIPAA-compliant solutions later) Experience with Twilio integration, queueing, and notifications Clear documentation and mentorship capabilities 5 | Budget and Contract Hourly Rate: USD $30–$45/hour Phase 0–1 Budget: ~40–60 hours (USD $1,200–$2,700) Paid weekly via Upwork Work Diary. Future phases under separate agreements. 6 | Application Requirements To be considered, your application must include: Live demo link showcasing your UI and backend architecture skills.
