WooCommerce Customisation: Display Weighed Products in KG (Frontend) & Grams (Backend)

Job Description: We are looking for an experienced WordPress/WooCommerce developer to help us implement a custom solution for how weighed products are displayed and processed on our website. The Challenge: Our store sells a mix of unit-based and weighed products. For inventory/scanning purposes, we need weighed products to be managed in grams in the backend, but shown in kilograms to customers on the frontend (product page, cart, and invoice). Currently, we’ve partially implemented this with a PHP snippet, but it’s not complete and creates confusion in the basket/invoice stages. What We Need: A solution (likely PHP-based) that allows products in a specific category (or using another condition) to be stored in grams in the backend, while displaying as kilograms in the frontend. Quantity selectors should work in full kilograms (e.g., choosing 2 = 2000 grams). Cart and checkout/invoice pages must clearly display both grams and kg to avoid customer confusion. This functionality must be update-proof, i.e., not lost during future theme, plugin, or WordPress core updates. Requirements: Strong knowledge of WordPress and WooCommerce Experience with WooCommerce hooks, filters, and templates Ability to deliver clean, update-safe code (e.g., through a child theme or custom plugin) Strong attention to UI clarity and customer experience Excellent communication skills We will provide further technical details and examples to shortlisted candidates.
