For more than a decade, our ABA website has been helping would-be BCBAs and BCaBAs make informed education choices. We’ve worked with ABA practitioners and professors every step of the way with a consistent mission since the beginning – to support the student journey with the same kind of integrity ABAs bring to client interactions every day. For us, that means providing information and authentic perspectives students can 100% rely on. With a lot of things changing – both with the sunsetting of the VCS system in favor of the Tiered Model, and more broadly, with the way students are accessing information online – it’s the right time for us to look at how we can continue to meet the needs of today’s ABA students. So for this project, we’re interested in putting together some YouTube videos to embed on existing web pages. We’re looking to present something very real and accessible, so we’re not aiming for anything highly produced. We feel simple and authentic vlog style videos would be best for connecting with our audience. You would contribute to the project by recording videos independently right from your phone. Rather than being highly scripted, we’d like you to offer some insider perspectives and anecdotes that could serve as a side-bar to standard processes, bringing some fun and authenticity to things like pre-licensure fieldwork, exam preparation, and building an independent practice or finding the right fit in the job market. On the information front, of course there’s an opportunity to bring clarity to the Tiered Model and other changes, so we’ll certainly want to cover that on pages that deal with certification processes. But beyond being purely informational, we want the videos to offer students a very human, practitioner- and client-centric perspective that gives a real sense of what it means to be an ABA and help clients live more fulfilled lives. We’re also very interested in giving you the freedom to explore topical issues in ABA that interest you and that you think would be important to an audience of ABA students today. We will start with a short video dealing with the steps to becoming certified that we will feature on our How to Become a BCBA page. Here, you’d outline the basic steps, discuss the BACB process changes that are in the works, and add your own thoughts and commentary based on experiences you had in the course of becoming a BCBA. This seems like a good starting point, and a chance to get a sense for whether you’d like to do more. If you find this is a project you’d like to continue being a part of, we’d be very happy to move forward with additional pages that would benefit from some embedded video, along with more topical vlogs. Of course, there is no expectation for any commitment, but there is the potential for ongoing work if you’re interested. We’re happy to pay at your stated hourly rate for all work involved. Thank you!
