We are seeking a detail-oriented and versatile Copywriter to lead the development of on-pack copy for consumer products. This role requires someone with a keen understanding of packaging compliance, including age labeling, warning statements (e.g., “choking hazard”), and other regulatory language, while maintaining brand voice across SKUs. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with design, product development, and legal to ensure that all copy is not only creative and concise—but also safe and compliant. ________________________________________ RESPONSIBILITIES ● Write, edit, and proofread all product packaging copy of various product lines which includes instructions and regulatory content ● Ensure all language meets U.S. regulatory standards (e.g., CPSIA, ASTM, FDA, FTC guidelines) ● Incorporate age-specific guidance, warnings, material content, and usage instructions on packaging ● Translate technical/legal requirements into clear and consumer-friendly messaging ● Stay updated on evolving regulations and inform involved parties ● Maintain a packaging copy style guide to ensure consistency across products and formats ● Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure copy works within space constraints and print guidelines ______________________________________ IDEAL CANDIDATE ● 2+ years of experience writing packaging copy, preferably for toys, consumer goods, or food & beverage ● Strong familiarity with regulatory language and warning requirements (e.g., “small parts – choking hazard,” “for ages 3+”) ● Detail-obsessed with exceptional proofreading and editing skills ● Ability to distill complex legal/compliance language into simple, friendly copy ● Collaborative and flexible—able to work across departments and timelines ● Knowledge of print production processes and packaging constraints a plus ______________________________________ ADDITIONAL DETAILS All tasks are completed remotely or on a work from home basis. Talent is required to have an active Upwork account as this is the platform through which all initiation, communication, maintenance, and payments are made. Upwork time tracker is required.
