Logo Design and Branding

I need a logo and some branding for my church. When I say branding, I mean branded colors and font types that are "ours." Perhaps some social media marketing graphics, but I'm not sure on that one quite yet. We're just getting started. The name of the church is Holy Cross Lutheran Church. I would love for a cross to be incorporated into the name of the church. (See example below.) The example I'm attaching is a bit too whimsical for me. That is, it's not easy to tell that there is an H in the logo. I would like the logo to be easy to incorporate with the address, phone and website or stand alone on it's own. Or to make a metal logo that can be mounted to the side of our building and be seen from the street. Church colors are usually bold and strong. No pastels. Our building is battle ship gray. (blah) So a color palate that will complement this would be great. Indoors the walls are light gray and dark gray baseboards. Medium gray floor tile. But when I say complement, I don't want similar dark colors. I want something that will pop. Reds, greens, blues etc. They just need to complement with the gray. Photo 2 is interior colors and photo 3 (with the sidewalk in view) is the exterior colors. This will be a one time freelance work that I would appreciate bids on from various artists. The church will own all of the rights to the final designs and be able to adjust it as needed up to what the law allows. Along with getting paid for the job, you are free to market the work in your portfolio.
