About the GIIN: The GIIN is a global leader in impact investing, dedicated to expanding the scale and effectiveness of the field worldwide. As a field-building organization, we aim to demonstrate how finance can be a force for good. Our written content, including reports, articles and publications, play a crucial role in amplifying our mission and reaching a broad audience. Scope of Work: The selected copy editor and proofreader will be responsible for: - Pre-reading: Familiarizing themselves with the document to ensure understanding and context prior to editing. - Cohesion and flow: Ensuring cohesion across all sections of the document, recommending reordering or restructuring sections or paragraphs where applicable for better clarity and flow. - Consistency and terminology: Synthesizing various writing styles (if multiple authors are involved) and ensuring consistency with GIIN’s terminology and voice. - References and links: Checking the accuracy of links to references and other GIIN documents, ensuring they are correct and properly formatted. - Format standardization: Standardizing the format throughout the document, including the correct application of fonts, headings and citation styles. - Simplification of language: Simplifying language where appropriate to ensure the content is accessible to a wide audience while retaining accuracy. - Tracking changes: Providing full tracking and explanatory comments for suggested changes. - Copyediting: Reviewing written materials for adherence to AP style, ensuring correct use of grammar, punctuation and other style standards. - Proofreading: Performing final proofreading to check for grammar, spelling, punctuation and formatting errors. - Re-working: Revising content based on feedback from debriefs or multiple iterations, ensuring continuous alignment with GIIN’s objectives. - Administrative support: Handling related administrative tasks, including liaison with internal teams, follow-ups and correspondence as needed. Proposal Requirements: Interested parties should submit a comprehensive proposal that includes: Individual or company profile: Overview of your background and experience in copyediting and proofreading, with particular focus on nonprofit or similar sectors. Approach and methodology: Outline your approach to editing and proofreading, including any processes, tools and techniques you employ to ensure high-quality results. Sample work: Provide samples of your previous work, particularly in proofreading or editing similar documents (e.g., reports, research papers). Timeline: Provide a timeline for typical project turnaround times, factoring in document length and complexity. Rates: Provide a breakdown of your rates, whether hourly, per word or per page and any additional fees for rush jobs or specialized work. References: Include at least two references who can speak to the quality of your work and your professionalism. Submission Instructions: Submit your proposal no later than March 14, 2025. Late submissions will not be considered. Evaluation Criteria: Proposals will be evaluated based on the following: Experience and qualifications: Proven expertise in copyediting and proofreading, particularly for nonprofits or related sectors. Quality of work: Sample submissions that demonstrate attention to detail, the ability to synthesize various writing styles and proficiency in maintaining consistency across documents. Approach and methodology: A clear and thorough approach to editing and proofreading, with a focus on meeting GIIN’s specific needs and aligning with our style guide. References: Positive feedback from previous clients or collaborators attesting to the quality, efficiency and professionalism of your work. Cost-effectiveness: Competitive pricing based on the proposed scope and budget.
